Advancing Progressive Priorities
Ballot measures have the potential to engage underrepresented communities and advance progressive priorities. But today, progressives are stuck on the defensive, spending millions every year fighting right-wing ballot measures – resources that could be spent advancing progressive issues.
The sooner we understand and take control of ballot measures, the sooner progressives can start using our investments more wisely and focus our resources where we can make the most impact. With the support of visionary funders, Ballot Initiative Strategy Center collaborates with national and state organizations to help progressives build better defenses and, ultimately, take a more proactive stance.
We conduct in-depth research and analysis to understand the challenges progressives face in winning campaigns, informing smart strategies, and measuring progress. We help state lawmakers protect the integrity of the system. We work closely with state partners to win initiative campaigns. Each activity plays an integral role in our strategy to reclaim the ballot box for America’s progressives, use scarce campaign resources efficiently, and deliver wins on key issues.
