For its long-term commitment to funding strategies that engage civil rights and allied groups in the expansion of equal opportunity and opposing attacks on socially just and responsible policies.

State Leadership Honoree: Honorable Booth Gardner, former Governor of Washington

For using the ballot initiative process as it was intended – through open, transparent, public dialogue about a critical issue – on the Washington Death with Dignity Campaign.

Corporate Leadership Honoree: American Wind Energy Association

For its commitment to public policy solutions that create jobs and advance a clean energy economy.

2009 Progressive Innovation Award: Our Oregon

For coordinating successful, entrepreneurial opposition to eight regressive and anti-labor measure.

2009 Courage Award: Dr. Marv Buehner & Tiffany Campbell

For never backing down from their brave and vocal opposition to a South Dakota abortion ban.

2009 National Integrity Award: NAACP Legal Defense Fund

For upholding a fair and democratic initiative process through successful cases exposing the fraudulent signature gathering efforts of anti-equality crusader Ward Connerly.
