Utah House backs Save Our Secret Ballot

Salt Lake City Tribune: House members approved and sent to the Senate a proposed constitutional amendment requiring employees wanting to form unions to use secret ballots. Supporters say the measure protects a fundamental principle of democracy. Opponents call it an anti-union move to fend off efforts to make it easier to organize labor. HJR8, sponsored by Rep. Carl Wimmer, R-Herriman, is a pre-emptive strike against the proposed federal Employee Free Choice Act, a labor-backed law unions say would level the playing field with management when trying to organize. Wimmer argued the pending federal legislation will take away the ability for people to privately vote their consciences. "We are going to protect secret ballots. They're under attack," he said. Labor officials disagree. "The debate didn't have anything to do with protecting the rights of the secret ballot, it was about employer intimidation, and we saw the very best of that at the Capitol today," said Jim Judd, president of the AFL-CIO of Utah.

Excellent site. I like your placing comments system. I’m sorry for the off-topic write-up, yet I had been extremely fascinated with Djokovic’s play in the final of the Aussie OPen this yr. The guy is definitely unrivaled. He revealed he had been as solid as iron. Just think about he he could whip Nadal who had been so stimulated to win and was really so motivated up while in the 5th set. I am beginning to feel that Djokovic is performing some psychic work to bring some aids on his side which help him win these kinds of matches up against the finest players in the planet
