Boston Globe: Tens of thousands of dollars are being spent in an effort to get Connecticut voters to reject a proposal on the November ballot to reopen the state constitution. The state's largest teachers union, the Connecticut Education Association, has contributed $40,000 to the cause. And Planned Parenthood of Connecticut has given $5,000. Advocates of a constitutional convention say they're worried about being grossly outspent in the battle for voter support. They've formed their own coalition that wants the Connecticut Constitution to allow ballot initiatives, like those in California. The Family Institute of Connecticut, which supports a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, is sending out urgent e-mails to members, asking them to contribute.
