Associated Press: A Republican legislator wants to exempt Ohio from any government health care plan that Congress may approve in the coming months. State Sen. Timothy Grendell of Chesterland said Friday that he plans to introduce legislation next week that would go to voters in 2010 if approved by three-fifths of the House and Senate. President Barack Obama and other Democrats are driving an effort to overhaul the nation's health care system. Grendell says he feels an increasingly powerful federal government is usurping states' responsibilities. His proposal would amend Ohio's Constitution to prevent individuals, employers and health care providers from being required to participate in any government plan. Grendell acknowledges that it's unlikely the proposal would get through the Democratic-controlled House.
