Rights panel will vote on gay marriage stance

Des Moines Register: The state's top civil rights advocates will vote Thursday on whether to formally support the state Supreme Court's decision allowing gay marriage and to oppose a constitutional amendment to overturn the decision. Political events or public pressure are not compelling the bipartisan Iowa Civil Rights Commission, executive director Ralph Rosenberg said Tuesday. The last time the commission took a position against a constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriage was in November 2006, he said.
