Arkansas News Bureau: Debbie Willhite, lead consultant for Arkansas Families First, said the group has decided to devote its resources to campaigning for the defeat of the adoption measure rather than pursuing legal action to strike the measure from the ballot. Arkansas Families First also decided against challenging the wording of the measure after Attorney General Dustin McDaniel said recently he was confident the wording would withstand a legal challenge, Willhite said. She said the group will run a "strong grassroots campaign" against the measure. Cox said Tuesday he believes the ballot initiative would withstand a constitutional challenge. "Since it doesn't specifically name homosexuals or heterosexuals, but it just simply addresses individuals cohabiting with a sexual partner outside of a valid marriage, then it treats everyone the same in that regard," he said.
