Democrats Oppose “Open and Clean” Ballot Measure

Associated Press: Delegates to the Democratic State Convention adopted a resolution that urges South Dakota voters to reject a November ballot measure that's billed as an attempt to create a clean and open government. The resolution passed on a unanimous voice vote after no debate. It says the Democratic Party supports open and clean government, but that the measure on the ballot does not accomplish those objectives, is overly broad and could be unconstitutional. Republicans at their state convention a week ago passed an identical resolution urging voters to defeat the ballot measure.
