Associated Press: Colorado's "personhood" amendment suffered a setback on Friday after the Secretary of State's office said it made a mistake on the deadline to turn in signatures and moved it up by three days.
The new deadline is Feb. 12. Gualberto Garcia Jones, director of Personhood Colorado, said the mistake could be costly because the last week of a campaign is the most important. "We're upset by it. That last weekend is critical," he told supporters at a rally for the amendment on the steps of the state Capitol. Crystal Clinkenbeard, spokeswoman for the Colorado coalition that defeated a similar amendment last year called "Protect Families, Protect Choices" says it will fight again if Personhood USA collects enough signatures. Amendment backers need about 76,000 signatures to get it on the November ballot.
