Denver Business Journal: A Denver lawyer claims that petition circulators for a proposed right-to-work ballot initiative violated Colorado signature-gathering laws and filed a complaint through Colorado Secretary of State Mike Coffman on Friday. A spokesman for Coffman said the complaint is being looked into. Attorney Mark Grueskin, who is representing labor unions on two proposed ballot initiatives, said at least two petition circulators of the right-to-work petition told signers that they didn't need to be registered voters in order to sign the petition. In filing the complaint, Grueskin provided Coffman with an audio disc of petitioners telling signers they didn't need to be registered voters and that they could sign more than once. The attorney noted it's illegal for circulators to sign petition affidavits without knowing or reasonably believing the statements made in the document are true. By filing the petitions, Grueskin said the circulators invalidated their affidavits and state law.
