WXVT.com: LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The attorney general's office has certified a proposed ballot measure that would change the terms of office for county officials from two years to four. Attorney General Dustin McDaniel on Wednesday cleared the way for a group calling itself Sheriffs for 4-Year Terms Committee to begin collecting signatures for a proposed constitutional amendment they want on the 2010 ballot. The proposal would change the terms of office for county sheriffs, judges, clerks, treasurers, tax collectors, assessors, coroners, surveyors and constables to four years. Those offices are currently on the ballot every two years.
