Associated Press: Legislators, statewide public officials or members of the Public Service Commission who have salary increases approved by the Legislature could not start collecting the extra money until their next term of office begins, under a state constitutional amendment that is nearing final legislative passage. The bill (Senate Bill 67) by Sen. Joe McPherson, D-Woodworth, was approved 92-0 by the House on Monday. It still needed Senate approval of House language changes. Once that final routine vote is made it will need approval by state voters in the 2010 election to take effect.
