Niles Herald-Spectator: For the first time in 20 years, Illinois voters will decide whether it's time to overhaul the state's constitution. Proponents say it's a unique opportunity for the citizens of Illinois to make decisions about their own government without political derailing by legislators or special interests. Opponents say the constitutional isn't broken, it's the leaders who are. They add the price tag alone should prohibit another convention. Voters would ultimately approve a new constitution, but it is the current elected officials in Springfield who would set the ground rules for the convention, opponents warn.
