The Molokai Times: A constitutional convention could play an important role in protecting important agriculture land, water rights, the environment and health care for Molokai, said Hawaii's Lieutenant Governor James Duke Aiona. Historically, only three con cons have ever been held, in 1950, 1968 and 1978. Some of the changes made in the last con con include the requirement of an annual balanced budget, term limits for the governor and lieutenant governor, and the adoption of the Hawaiian language as the official state language.
