Associated Press: A proposed state ballot measure that that seeks to ban big-game hunting in fenced game preserves is ready for signatures. Secretary of State Al Jaeger approved the petition for circulation on Friday. It needs signatures from at least 12,844 North Dakota voters within a year to qualify. The measure seeks to abolish closed game preserves where hunting is allowed, on the grounds it is unethical to shoot a fenced-in animal. Jaeger says an identical proposed ballot measure two years ago failed to get the required number of signatures to qualify.
